Golden’s

My association with golden retrievers goes back many years, my mother brought our first golden Lassie (Golden Lass of Hughenden) back in the 50’s she was the start of my mother’s breeding line, under the affix of Valpat (from my name and one of my sisters).

Over 12 years I had the pleasure of sharing my life with 5 litters of puppies, 2 from Lassie, one sired by Sh Ch Sonnet, from which she kept Dawn (Dawn of Valpat) , and  Bobby (Merry Boy of Hughenden) who my mother brought in to our golden family, and 3 litters from Dawn, sired by Fordvale Bobbie of Hughenden, Merry Boy of Hughenden and Scotch Prince.

Time moved on and unfortunately circumstances changed when my father passed away suddenly when I was 14, my mother was unable to continue her breeding line, although we had dogs after this, my association with golden retrievers was severed until 2004, when I at least achieved my dream of owning a golden myself, I wanted to carry on where Mum had left off, and to retrieve the kennel name that she had all those years ago, and hopefully start my own breeding line.

I decided to incorporate my other sister’s name into my kennel name, so Valpat became Valpatcyn.
